"Caritas in Veritate" o Pag-ibig sa lopb ng Katotohanan Part I

Sa paggawa ng kalooban ng Diyos natin natatagpuan ang katotohanan.

Ang sinulat na Encyclical na 'Caritas in Veritate' ni Papa Benito XVI,  ay tumatalakay sa mga mahahalagang bagay para sa kaunlaran ng bawat tao at ng kaunlaran ng lipunan. Sinasagot nito ang mga tanong na: Ano ang Pag-ibig, ano ang Katotohanan, ano ang doktrinang panlipunan ng Iglesiya , ano ang kaugnayan ng mga turo na ito sa ating panahon ngayon: kakulangan sa trabaho, pandaigdigang kagutuman, paghihirap at kurapsyon sa pamahalaan

Tutukuyin ng Sto Papa ang mga katungkulan at limitasyon ng mga pamahalaan at magbibigay ng hamon sa mga pangkasalukuyang idelohiya o paraan ng pag-iisip sa pag-asang magkakaroon ng mga pagbabago sa ating mga sistema.

Populorum Progressio

Tinalakay ni Benito XVI ang mga katuruang panlipunan na nakapaloob sa Encyclical na isinulat ni Papa Pablo VI noong 1967 na Populorum Progressio na nagbibigay liwanag sa sitwasyon ng lipunan natin ngayon at ang kaunlaran ng mga tao. Itinuro niya na ang pangunahing paraan sa pag-unlad ng mga tao ay ang pamumuhay sa loob ni Kristo at dapat nating linangin ang ating sarili sa paggamit ng ating mga puso at ng ating kaalaman, ang  pag-galaw sa loob ng pagmamahal at ng katotohanan, pag-ibig  sa loob ng pagmamahal o sa "Caritas in Veritate" .

Mayroon tayong facebook, twitter email, mga smart devices. Nalalaman natin ang mga nangyayari sa kabilang dulo ng ating mundo sa pamamagitan ng makapabagong teknolohiya sa komunikasyon. Mayroong mas matinding pagsasalamuha ng kultura at ideya ng mga bansa ngunit ang bilis ng pagbuo ng koneksyon ay 'di napapantayan ng etikal na paghahalubilo ng konsiyensya at ng isipan. Ang ugnayan na nabubuo ay nagkukulang ng perspektibo na mahalag para sa kabuuang kaunlaran ng bawat tao, katawan at espiritu.

Ano ang misyon ng Simbahan sa ating lipunan?

Walang teknikal na solusyon ang Iglesiya sa ating mga kasalukuyang suliranin at 'di humahadlang ang Iglesiya sa politika ng  Estado ngunit ang Iglesiya  ay may misyon upang ipangalat ang katotohanan upang masigurado na ang lipunan ay nakasentro para sa tao, sa dignidad ng tao at sa bokasyon ng tao

Ano ang kahulugan ng "Caritas in Veritate"  o Pag-ibig sa loob ng Katotohanan?

Tignan natin ang salitang 'Pag-ibig'.

Ang pag-ibig ay 'di lang pakiramdam, ito ay grasya: ito ay bigay ng Diyos mula sa kanyang kabutihan at tinatawag tayo upang ibigay ang pag-ibig na ito; Ang pag-ibig na ito ay nabunyag at kapiling natin kay Hesus at ibinigay sa atin sa pamamagitan ng Espiritu Santo. Tayo din ay tinatawag upang bumuo ng ugnayan ng pagmamahal

()Ang pagmamahal ay nagbibigay ng laman sa ating personal na relasyon sa Diyos at sa ating kapwa.
()Ito ang pinaka-puso ng Doktrinang Panglipunan ng Iglesiya. Ang bawat katungkulan na pinapaalala ng Iglesiya ay umaagos mula sa pag-ibig na pinaka-buod ng Kautusan ng Diyos (cf. Mt 22:36- 40)

Ano ang kahulugan ng salitang "Veritate"?

Ito ay ang Katotohanan. Ang Katotohanan ay 'di gawa-gawa lamang. Ito ay natatagpuan at natatanggap. Halimbawa, alam natin na ang isang lapis ay hindi isang prutas. Maaring pilitin natin ang sarili natin at sabihin na ang lapis ay isang prutas ngunit 'di nagbabago ang katotohanan na ang lapis ay 'di isang prutas.

May tinatawag tayo sa nangyayari ngayon na "relativization of truth" na isang maling paniniwala na ang 'katotohanan' para sa isang tao ay maaring hindi katotohanan para sa ibang tao. Ang maling paniniwala na ito ay nagsasabi na ang 'katotohanan' ay nababatay lamang sa kung ano ang sa personal nating pananaw na totoo. Mayroon tayong madalas na sinasabi na "Kanya Kanyang paniniwala lang yan'" Alam natin na ito ay mali dahil mayroon talagang katotohanan. Ang Katotohanan mismo ay nagkatawang-tao at si Hesu-Cristo, ang Diyos na naging tao ang Katotohanan. Alam din natin na ang Katotohanan ay 'di nagbabago.

Paano natin nalalaman ang katotohanan tungkol sa ating mga sarili? Maari ba nating makilala ang katotohanan? Ang Diyos ay mabuti at makapangyarihan. Binigyan niya tayo ng kakayahan upang mahanap at malaman ang katotohanan. Nangangahulugan na ang ating pagnanasa upang hanapin ang katotohanan ay bokasyon ng bawat tao na itinanim ng Diyos sa loob ng ating mga sarili.

Saan natin makikita ang katotohanan? Nahahanap natin ang katotohanan sa batas ng kalikasan o "Natural Law" na siyang likas na sistema ng mga bagay. Unti-unti nating nakikita ang plano ng Diyos para sa sangnilikha at para sa mga tao. Higit sa lahat, nakikita natin ang katotohanan sa pagtingin natin kay Kristo kung saan ang paghahanapa natin sa pag-ibig at katotohanan ay pinadadalisay at pinapalaya ni Hesu-Cristo sa kabila ng ating mga pagkukulang tulad ng paghina ng ating mga isip at mahinang kalooban na mga bunga ng orihinal na kasalanan. Ibinunyag ni Hesus ng buo kung ano ang pag-ibig at ang tunay na plano na inihanda ng Diyos para sa atin.

Ngayong alam na natin kung saan mahahanap ang katotohanan ng tungkol sa tao, sa pamamagitan ng katotohanang ito, nagkakaroon tayo ng pagakataon na tunay na mahalin upang makatulong sa kanilang paglago at upang makamtan natin ang hustisya at ang kapayapaan. Ang ganitong uri ng pag-ibig ay lumalagpas pa kahit sa mga pagkukulang sa kultura o nakaraan ng tao. Halimbawa, alam ng kahit anong bansa  na ang pumatay, ang magnakaw at mangalunya ay mali kahit anupman ang kultura at relihiyon ng mga tao. Kung mahal natin ang tao ng tunay, kailngan natin silang mahalin sa daan ng katotohanan. Hindi ito madali kung minsan at kung minsan ito pa nga ay sanhi ng pagtatakwil at pag-iwan sa tao lalo na kung sinasabihan natin ang iba na mali ang kanilang ginagawa. Ang pinaka ehemplo ng prinsipyo ng Caritas in Veritate ay si Hesu-Cristo na siyang nagpakita ng ganitong paraan sa Kaniyang buhay sa lupa at, higit sa lahat, sa Kaniyang pagkamatay ay muling-pagkabuhay.Kahit ang Diyos na nagkatawang-tao ay nakaranas na maitakwil at maiwanan. Kay Kristo, nakikita nating ang mukha ng pagmamahal sa loob ng katotohanan, na siya ding tawag sa atin na mahalin ang aitng mga kapatid sa katotohanan ng Kaniyang plano. Siya mismo ang Katotohanan. Minsan, nagmamahal tayo batay sa ating mga maling akala at batay sa ating mga nararamdaman na 'di katiyakan ng tunay na pag-ibig. Ang pagkakamali na ito ay minsang nagdadala sa atin na gawin ang kabaligtaran ng pag-ibig.

Maligayang ika-7 Anibersaryo sa inyo mga groupmates!

Ang Ebanghelyo ng Panginoon ay tunay nga na 'di lang nakakapagbigay ng kaalaman sa ating lahat, ang Ebanghelyo ay may kapangyarihan na makapagbago sa ating lahat! Ang pagbabago na ito ay nagpapalago at nagpapaunlad sa ating buong katauhan, sa esperitwal, sa pisikal,  at sa ating relasyon sa Diyos at sa lipunan.

Sa aking karanasan, ang aking paglago sa grupo ay sa pagbabahagi ng aking mga pagninilay sa mga Pagbasa at pagbukas ko sa aking sarili sa mga naibabahagi ng iba  tunay nga na tinutulungan ako ng Panginoon na paglalimin ang aking kaalaman sa Pananampalataya at pagpapalakas ng aking esperitwal na buhay sa pamamagitan ng lalo kong pagkilala sa Kanya. Nagpapasalamat ako at naging kasama ko kayo sa grupo na nagbibigay sigla sa akin upang ipagpatuloy ang pagtagpo sa Panginoon sa ating Pananampalataya. Dahil sa inyo, alam ko na lagi akong may kasama, na laging may makikinig at magbabasa ng aking ibabahagi, na laging may bukas-palad sa ating grupo na magbabahagi ng kanilang kaalaman, pagmamahal at pagninilay. Tunay na nagkakaroon tayo sa grupo na ito na masaksihan na tayo ay gawa para sa handog: ang lahat ng kabutihan ay natanggap natin mula sa Panginoon at tayo'y tinatawag upang ihandog sa iba ang ating sarili at ang ating mga natanggap mula sa Panginoon. 
Dahil sa grupo natuon ang aking pagninilay sa pulyeto, mga pagpabasa, at sa ngayon ay sa mga dokumento ng Iglesiya. Ang paglago ko din sa grupo ang nag-udyok sa akin na makipag-ugnayan sa iba pang mga pangkat.

Malapit na ang Anniversary ng ating Katoliko Group sa Oct 26. Nauna kong naisip na ipagdiwang ang ating anibersaryo ng isang buwan mula Oct 11 ngunit naging abala ako sa pag-buo ng presentasyon sa Encyclical ni Sto Papa Benito XVI na aking ibabahagi sa inyo sa loob ng 30 na ito.

Ano ba ang kasal?Ang kasal ay pag-iisang dibdib ng mag-asawa. Walang makakaisip ng kasal kung hindi dahil sa kakayanan ng lalaki at babae na magkaroon ng anak sa loob ng relasyong sekswal. Ang katotohanan na ito ay ang sentro ng konsepto ng kasal ng lahat ng komunidad sa buong mundo. Ang susi sa pag-unawa sa kasal ay sa pagsasama ng babae at lalaki, isang relasyon na pandalawang tao lamang (kahit sa polygamy) at ito ay mayroong relasyong sekswal na para lamang sa mag-asawa kung saan nagiging ganap ang kanilang pagiging mag-asawa. Ang magkakaparehong pananaw at pagkaunawa sa kasal ng mga komunidad sa buong mundo ay may layunin at naa-angkop sa relasyong bukas sa pagkakaroon ng sariling anak. Ito ang pinaka modelo ng kasal. Ngunit ang kasal ay 'di lang tinitignan bilang paraan upang magkaroon ng anak dahil kahit ang mag-asawa ay walang kakayanan na magka-anak, kinikilala pa din ng simbahan at ng estado na sila ay kasal sa kondisyong ang kasal nila ay naging ganap dahil sa pagtatalik o relasyong sekswal na ordinaryong naglalayon sa pagkakaroon ng anak. Sa pinaka modelo ng kasal, mayroong presensya ng ama at ng ina, at pagmamahal sa mga anak ng mga tunay nilang magulang. Ito rin ang isa sa dahilan kung bakit 'di maaring maging kasal ang pagsasama ng dalawang lalaki o dalawang babae kahit maaari naman silang umampon ng bata. Tayo ay mga nilalang na may katawan at mayroon tayong kaugnayang pangkatawan sa ating mga magulang na ating pinanggalingan. Sa pag-sisiyasat, kahit ang mga anak na nabuo dahil sa 'sperm donation' ay naghahanap din ng kanilang tunay na magulang. Kahit ang mga inampong anak ay may kagustuhan na mahalin ng kanilang mga tunay na magulang.

Kung babaliwalain natin ang pagbibigay kahulugan sa kasal bilang relasyon ng isang babae at isang lalaki lamang, mawawalan tayo ng basehan na makita na ang kasal ay 'di maaring maging relasyon ng mahigit sa dalawang tao. Kung ibabase lang natin ang kasal sa nararamdaman ng tao, tandaan natin na maari ding makaranas ng mala-romantikong damdamin ang mahigit na dalawang tao. Sa pagsira ng tao sa kahulugan ng tunay na kasal, ano pa ang pipigil sa atin na kilalanin ang pagsasama ng mahigit dalawang tao bilang kasal?

Ang pagsuporta ng estado sa maling pananaw na ito ay maglalagay sa mga komunidad sa peligro. May posibilidad na dumami ang komplikasyon tulad ng posibilidad na masampahan ng kaso ng diskriminasyon ang mga laban dito at ang pagpuwersa na bigyan ng trabaho sa simbahan ang mga same-sex couple. Sa Massachussets, ang Catholic Charities na kumakalinga sa mga ulila nang mahigit 100 na taon ay nagsara upang maiwasang makibahagi sa paghaya sa maling pananaw ng kasal. Nasampahan sila ng kaso at naparatangang nagkamali laban sa batas ng 'same-sex marriage'. Ganon din sa New Mexico nang ang isang photagrapher ay pinagmulta ng $7,500 dahil sa pagtanggi na kunan ng litrato ang kasal ng dalawang taong may parehong kasarian dahil alam niya na ito ay laban sa Kristianong pananampalataya.

Praying Deus Caritas Est

"Lord you are love, let us abide in love so we can abide in You, and You abide in us" (1 Jn 4:16)
"We have come to know and to believe in Your love for us, to encounter you and to respond to your gift

We thank you for the beautiful love between a man and woman. help us discipline and purify this love, a love that should promise us infinity and, eternity

Unite our body and soul when we love and make this love lead us beyond ourselves through self-giving so we can know You and so we can know ourselves, for you have said "Whoever seeks to gain his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will preserve it"

Ground and shape our love in faith. Give this love so we may give it to others. Make us a source from which rivers of living water flow (cf. Jn 7:37-38) by constantly drinking anew from You, Jesus Christ, whose pierced heart flows the love of God (cf. Jn 19:34). So great is Your love for man that by becoming man You have followed us even into death reconciling us through justice and love. Unite us to You so we may become one spirit with You" (1 Cor 6:17).

It is written that a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife and they become one flesh(Gen 2:24) you have designed this union to represent the complete humanity. Help us direct this love towards marriage, to a bond that is an icon of the relationship between You and Your people. Your way of loving becomes the measure of human love.

Jesus, incarnate love of God, You are the shepherd who goes after the lost sheep,You are the one who looks for the lost coin, You have revealed God the Father who goes to meet and embrace us his prodigal sons.

Jesus, Logos and ultimate eternal wisdom, You are our real food and You truly nourish us and enable us to enter into the Your self-giving. Before, we only stand in Your presence, now we are able to unite ourselves with You by sharing in your self-gift, and by sharing in your body and blood. This Union with you unites us with all those to whom you have given Yourself and draws us out of ourselves towards You,  uniting us with all Christians. You have united our Love for you and the love for our neighbours: draw us all to into Yourself. We find you Jesus in the least of the brethren, and in You,Jesus, we find God.

Our communion with Your will increases in a communion of thought and sentiment so that Your will is now our own will, and you become more deeply present to me than I am to myself. Let us surrender ourselves to this self- abandonment for you are our joy (cf. Ps 73 [72]:23-28).

Lord, in You and with You, I love even the person who I do not like or even know because we encounter You in them. I learn to look on this other person not simply with my eyes and my feelings, but with Your eyes. If I have no contact with You in my life, then I cannot see in the other anything more than the other, and we can't see them in the image of God. Help us to welcome, love, and serve our neighbours. Make us see what You have done for us and how much You love us.

Unite us in You with your love
. Holy Spirit, conform our heart into Christ's heart and move us to love our brethren as Christ loved them, just as when he bent down to wash the feet of the disciples (cf. Jn 13:1-13) and above all when he gave his life for us (cf. Jn 13:1, 15:13). Transforms the heart of the church, so that it becomes a witness before the world to the love of the Father. Make humanity a single family in his Jesus. We ask you to be with us in evangelizing

We read in the Acts of the apostles that "All who believed were together and had all things in common; and they sold their possessions and goods and distributed them to all, as any had need" (Acts 2:44-5).

Teach us to be faithful to the "teaching of the Apostles", in a life centered on "communion" (koinonia), "the breaking of the bread" and "prayer" (cf. Acts 2:42).

Lead us to serve you in the widows and orphans, prisoners, and the sick and needy of every kind for these service expresses who we are

We are your family. No one in our family should go without the necessities of life, no member should suffer through being in need.

We thank you for always giving us an opportunity to do good to all especially to those who are of the household of faith.

May our leaders lead us in the just ordering of society. We pray that states will guarantee religious freedom and harmony between the followers of different religions. May states recognize and respect the proper independence of the Church based on faith as a community.

Purify our reason, free it from ethical blindness caused by effects of power and special interests. Purify and liberate our reason through our Faith where we encounter You and we see new horizons that extends beyond the sphere of reason.

Help us spread the Church's social teaching using reason and natural law, to help form consciences in political life and to give us greater insight into the authentic requirements of justice as well as greater readiness to act accordingly, even when this might involve conflict with situations of personal interest.

May we Christians speak with a united voice to ask for the "respect for the rights and needs of everyone, especially the poor, the lowly and the defenceless.

May we respond to immediate needs of our brothers and sisters, to feed the hungry, cloth the naked, care for and healing the sick, visit those in prison, make our faith active through love (cf. Gal 5:6). To make present here and now the love which man always needs. May we make people aware of Your presence By having a pure and generous love as Your witness

Guide us by the faith which works through love (cf. Gal 5:6) so that it is"the love of Christ urges us on" (5:14).

Lord, you have given Yourself for us, even unto death, inspire us to live no longer for ourselves but for You, and, with You, for others. Let us share in the needs and sufferings of others, for this is my sharing of my very self with them: my personal presence in our gift.

May we not consider ourself as superior to the one served, rather, we are able to serve because You have graciously enabled us to do so.

Give us Hope to do good even in the face of apparent failure. Make us humble to accept Your mystery and to trust You even at times of darkness. You have given Jesus for our sake. You hold the world in Your hands and, in spite of all darkness, You will ultimately triumph in glory.

Through our Faith make us see your love which you revealed in the pierced heart of your Son, Jesus on the Cross. Let Your light illuminate our world and give us the courage to keep us living and working. We thank you for creating us in your image and letting us experience this intimate union. We ask you to pervade our souls and make us fountains where rivers of living water flow" (Jn 7:38).

Dt 26:4-10 - Salmo 91 - Rom 10:8-13 - Lk 4:1-13

 

Lk 4:1-13

Imalis mula sa Jordan si Jesus na puspos ng Espiritu Santo at naglibot sa disyerto na akay ng Espiritu sa loob ng apatnapung araw; at sinubok siya roon ng diyablo. Hindi siya kumain ng anuman sa loob ng mga araw na iyon at sa katapusa'y nagutom siya. Sinabi sa kanya ng diyablo: "Kung ikaw ang anak ng Diyos, iutos mo sa batong ito na maging tinapay." Ngunit sumagot naman sa kanya si Jesus: "Sinasabi ng Kasulatan: Hindi sa tinapay lamang nabubuhay ang tao." Pagkatapos ay itinaas niya si Jesus at ipinakita sa kanya sa isang kaisap-mata ang lahat ng kaharian sa mundo. Sinabi sa ng diyablo sa kanya: "Sa iyo ko ibibigay ang kapangyarihan sa lahat ng ito at ang kaluwalhatiang kalakip nito dahil sa akin ito ipinagkatiwala at maiibibigay ko ito sa maibigan ko. Kaya mapapasaiyo itong lahat kung magpapatirapa ka sa harap ko." Ngunit sumagot sa kanya si Jesus: " Sinsabi ng Kasulatan: 'Ang Panginoon mong Diyos ang iyong sasambahin at siya lamang ang iyong paglilingkuran.'" Pagkatapos ay dinala siya ng diyablo sa Jerusalem at itinayo siya sa nakausling pader ng Templo at sinabi sa kanya: "Kung ikaw ang Anak ng Diyos, tumalon ka mula rito paibaba sapagkat sinasabi ng Kasulatan: 'Iniutos niya sa kanyang mga anghel na pangalagaan ka' at bubuhatin ka nila para hindi matisod ang iyong paa sa bato." Ngunit sumagot si Jesus sa kanya: "Nasasaad: 'Huwag mong hamunin ang Panginoon mong Diyos.'" Kaya matapos siyang subukin ng diyablo sa lahat ng paraan, nilisan siya nito hanggang sa takdang panahon.

PAGNINILAY

Kapansin-pansin sa pagbasang ating narinig na tinukso si Jesus ng diyablo sa panahong gutom at mahina siya. Kung tutuusin maaari siyang kumapit sa tukso dahil sa pisikal na pangangailangan. Pero dahil sa puspos siya ng Espiritu Santo matibay niyang napanindigan kung ano ang tama, nararapat at kung ano ang kalugod-lugod sa Diyos. Mga kaibigan, maraming pagkakataon ding tayo'y nahaharap sa mga tukso at dumarating ito sa panahong tayo'y mahina at may matinding pangangailangan. Alam mg diyablo ang kahinaan natin at marunong siyang tumayming. Kung di natin alam ang ating kahinaan, nilalagay ang sarili sa okasyon ng pagkakasala - pero wala tayong malalim na pakikipag-ugnayan sa Diyos, malamang na magtagumpay ang diyablo sa'tin. Samantalang kung tayo'y may matatag na pananampalataya, may takot sa Diyos at puspos ng Espiritu Santo, walang tuksong mananaig sa'tin? Panginoon puspusin mo po ako ng iyong Espiritu Santo upang maliwanagan ang aking puso't isip na maging matatag sa gitna ng mapanirang tukso. Amen.

Sharing

Hindi lahat sa mundo madaling ipaliwanag o patunayan.

Subalit naniniwala tayong may dahilan ang lahat ng mga bagay sa mundoat sa ating buhay. Hindi man natin nakikita o lubos na nauunawaan ang mga ito. Mahiwaga ang buhay ng tao, higit nating nating napatunayan ito sa panahon ng krisis at pagsubok sa buhay, ito ang makikita nating tagpo ng pagtukso ng diyablo kay Jesus.

Hindi  pagtulak sa kasalanang moral ang pagtukso ni Jesus sa ilang, sa halip ang pagsubok na ito ay upang patunayan kung sino sya talaga. Nagmula ang laks ng sinumang binigyan ng misyon sa kanyang pagkilalala sa sarili tulad ng pagkilala sa kanya ng Diyos. Ang mga pagtutukso kay Hesus sa ilang ay di pagtutukso sa atin, ang gawing tinapay ang bato, ang angkinin ang buong mundo or pagtalon ng di nasasaktan mula sa mataas na gusali, hindi tayo maaaring tuksuhin sa mga bagay na ito, wala  tayong kakayahang gawin ito, kaya naman sinasabi na krisis ni Jesus kung anong kapangyarihan gawin. Sa simula ng pagtukso sinabi ng dyablo  "kung ikaw ang Anak ng Diyos… (Lc 4:3)Nang matapos ang pagtukso sa ilang, nakilalla siya ng mga mambabasa ng Ebanghelyo bilang tunay na anak ng Diyos.

Sa pagbasa natin sa Ebanghelyo na ito, nauunawaan nating mayroon din tayong sariling kwento sa disyerto, tulad na lang siguro sa ilang pagtatwa ng ilang tao sa sarili nating gawain, may ilang pagkakataon na sumusuko na ako, at pag iisip na mag quit sa grupo, mahabang katahimikan siguro pa ang kailangan ko, sa pamamagitan nito, kailangan ng malaking tiwala, para maunawaan ko ang aking sarili, sa apatnapung araw sa disyerto ng Panginoon, hinahamon nya akong maging matatag at humawak sa kanya, sinusubukan din ang bawat isa sa atin nito.

Nagdadala ng kaligtasan sa mndo ang apatnapung araw ni Jesus sa disyerto, anim na oras sa krus at walang hanggang muling pagkabuhay. Sa mahiwagang paraan, binibigyan tayo ng isa pang pagkakataon na muling isulat ang ating kwento ayon sa pagpapakatoo ni Jesus sa ilang. "Ang iyong Diyos at Panginoon ang sasambahin mo, at siya lamang ang iyong paglilingkuran, amen.

– Let us celebrate the beginning of the Fast with compunction in our hearts, * and let us cry out to the Lord: * ‘Accept our prayer as incense; * deliver us from all corruption and from the terrible punishment, * for You alone are able to have mercy on us.’

O Mother of God, fount of mercy, * deem us worthy of compassion. * Look upon a sinful people; * as always show your power. * For, placing our trust in you, we cry out to you: ‘Hail!’ * as once did Gabriel, the prince of angels.

My soul is wounded, my body is sickly, and my spirit is weak; * my thought have no strength; * the end is near and my life fades away; * what shall you do, O my poor soul, * when the Judge shall come to reveal your secret deeds?

With the hem of His garment, * Christ healed the woman with the flow of blood; * He cleansed those with leprosy; * he gave light to those who were blind and strength to those who were deaf and mute, along with the woman who was bent over.

Zacchaeus was a publican, but sill gained salvation; * Simon the Pharisee grumbled at his disappointment, * when the sinful woman received deliverance and forgiveness * from the One who has the power to forgive sins. * O my soul, hasten to also receive your forgiveness.

You have not imitated, O my soul, * the repentance of the sinful woman; * taking the vase of perfume and mixing it with her tears, * she poured it over the feet of the Lrod, * and with her hair, * she wiped away the record of her sins.

One thief reviled You upon the Cross, * the other confessed Your divinity; * for both were sharing the same suffering, * O Lord of all goodness, * open  for me the door of Your glorious Kingdom, * as You did for the Good Thief who recognized You as God.

Seeing You upon the Cross, O Lord, * creation was seized with fear; * mountains and rocks were split in terror; * the earth trembled and Hades gave up its plunder; * the light of day was changed into darkness, * when it saw You crucified, O my Savior.

O holy Andrew, Shepherd of Crete, * O thrice-blessed father, * always intercede for those who praise your name; * may those who unceasingly honor your memory * be delivered from every evil thought, * from affliction and from sin.

Glory + to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

 

O consubstantial Trinity, * we praise the unity of Your Persons, * glorifying the Father, * extolling the Son, * and bowing before the Spirit, * truly one God, * one triple life, and eternal kingdom.

Now and ever, and forever. Amen.

 

O most holy Mother of God, * keep under your protection the Christian people * who share your royal power, * and through you, make them triumphant over the assaults of the Enemy * and over all temptation.
